AMA Calls for Review of Medical Marijuans Legal Status New Policy Marks Historic Shift From Prior Stance
HOUSTON, TEXAS — In a move considered historic by supporters of medical marijuana, the American Medical Association’s House of Delegates today adopted a new policy position calling for the review of marijuana’s status as a Schedule I drug in the federal Controlled Substances Act. The old language in Policy H-95.952 had previously recommended that “marijuana be retained in Schedule I,” which groups marijuana with drugs such as heroin, LSD and PCP that are deemed to have no accepted medical uses and to be unsafe for use even under medical supervision.

Oakland ballot measures pass easily
Oakland ballot measures pass easily OAKLAND, CALIF. -- Oakland voters overwhelmingly approved four ballot measures in an unusual mail-only election Tuesday that sought to ease the city's tight budget situation.
At Coffeeshop Blue Sky on 17th Street in Oakland, patrons can buy lemon
bars filled with 10 doses of cannabis hash with a recommendation from a
doctor. Get there fast. The "edibles" here fly off the shelves.
Walk over to the Patient ID Center, and you can buy commercial machines
that can trim the leaves off of cannabis quicker than you could do with
scissors.
And over at Club Z, members of the underground club don't need
prescriptions and are sampling the varieties of pot before they buy.
People may be debating legalizing marijuana in other parts of the state
and nation. But here in the nine-block cannabis district of Oakland
known as Oaksterdam, it's hard to argue that it's not here already.
"At this point, dude, seriously, let's just face the fact that
everybody is smoking," said Jaime Galindo, who gave a reporter a tour
of Club Z. "Bus drivers, cops - your grandma."

When Patients Against Pain opened in May,2006 owner Arthur made sure that the medicine they provided was high quality at low cost. Greenway - 6th
Greenway - 6th Greenway takes the sixth place prize in this year's competition.
The road to accessible quality medicine for cannabis patients from Santa Cruz and surrounding areas has been a long and arduous journey. For almost the first ten years of prop 215 being passed there were no dispensaries in Santa Cruz County due to the strict limitations and apprehensive landlords unwilling to lease their properties to those who wished to open dispensaries. Lisa Molyneux realized the struggle her neighboring patients had to go through to legally obtain their meds. Traveling as far as Oakland, San Francisco, and Sacramento to get the medicine they needed, it occurred to Lisa that Santa Cruz deserved their own dispensary. She worked with county officials for more than a year until she received the proper permits to open Greenway Compassionate Relief in September of 2005, and the rest is history.

When lifelong friends Dave and Matt opened the doors to D&M Compassion Center they opened with the intention of “Helping people help themselves.” Dissatisfied with the impersonal experiences they had at other dispensaries, not to mention the far distances they had to travel to obtain their medication, they were inspired to help themselves and others in the process by opening their own dispensary.

Unfortunately I will not be supporting your efforts to make marijuana legal alternative medicine The San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted on a resolution last week condemning the Drug Enforcement Administration for the threatening letters that were sent to the landlords of medical cannabis dispensaries all across California; personally, I’ve got to hand it to the DEA, those sneaky rascals finally conjured up an effective inexpensive plan to rid California of many of its “distribution centers”, their term for what rational and compassionate people call “medical cannabis dispensaries” but what’s in a name, right?
