Here I am folks, once again like in all my endeavors, my objectives have been accomplished. At over six hundred visited cannabis dispensaries throughout the state, I can now comfortably say that I’m a slash critic of sorts. Few have ever been able to account these numbers for themselves, with the exception of a little federal competition.
I personally would like to thank the DEA and local law enforcement for helping out with some of the grunge work that has been mandatory in creating such high standards for our American cannabis consumers, it’s hard work. In the process of supporting the decriminalization of marijuana many great people and establishments have been criticized as evil doers. One can easily say “Mistakes Can Be Prevented”, but we must assure that no other person is being persecuted under any false pretenses for operating a cannabis dispensary, for being a patient, a cultivator, a vendor or any other law abiding citizen performing much needed cannabis research.
Through my travels I have met some of the great driving forces behind the movement. Jack Herer, Eddy Lepp, Richard Lee, Ed Rosenthal, Mark Emery, Steve & Kathy Smith, Dege Coutier, Steven Hager, Jeff Jones, Dale Gierienger, Brian & Lynette Davies, Grass Roots Crew, Dr. Hany Assad, Denis Peron, Tommy Chong, Daniel Jesus Sosa, Chris Conrad, Mikki Norris, Dave and Crew from LBC, Eric from CHR, Cannabis Crops, just to name a few. The support of the whole cannabis movement grows vastly everyday. As I prepare to go national, then worldwide in issues to come, I reflect on the day when there were no more than twenty five clubs here in northern California or anywhere else in the whole state. The days before the Green Kinds, Weedhackers, and Jemms. I think about how may times Oaksterdam News almost folded as the as the Federal Government shut down or terrorized supporters and advertisers. I think about the day when the band split and the obstacles and bills were piled as high as the ceiling.
There are so many great people that stepped up and did whatever they could to keep the paper running whether it be mentally, physically, creatively or spiritually. I look back on the days of “freedom” I once had, those days before these new chapters in this constant battle were created. I think about my family, my dogs and those other families and the lives of others affected by this war and then, I recognize how we are all still standing up and fighting in one way or another. No great change in history as we know comes without blood, sweat, tears and sacrifice. I truly hope you enjoy this issue from my heart to yours. O’dam News is rooting for ya!
