The Green Door takes the tenth
place prize in this year's competition.

The Green Door first got their start in Oakland, California back in 2003, and were unjustly forced out of the city due to the influence from a former city manager, undeterred in November of 2004 made they move across the bay to San Francisco. And it turned out to be a move for the better for The Green Door, immediately they became involved with Friends of Urban Forest and planted the trees that still line their street. After personally being affected by several

loses of family members, and finding out medicinal cannabis could have prolonged the lives of those family members the guys at The Green Door got involved, and got the necessary permits to open the door for patients.

Not only do they provide their services to patients The Green Door is also active in city beautification, political, and medical organizations such as, Maitri Hospice of San Francisco, Americans for Safe Access (national & local), Yerba Buena Garden, Marijuana Policy Project, and the Academy of Science. All of which they represent by way of donation, sponsor, or fundraises. Which is an important part of the medicinal cannabis message, which is to give to the patients and community.

When patients walk into The Green Door there always greeted by security at the front and verified, and when you walk into the actual pharmacy of the dispensary there is bright colored walls with the famous neon San Francisco Bay Bridge sign that reads The Green Door, with various Tarentino posters, and other decorative art hung up making your visit feel more personal not the like the unsettling environment that surrounds other medicinal settings. A large white board has all the available strains displayed with the more than compassionate prices that The Green Door has made standard. Eighths for forty-five or less, and if patients are struggling The Green Door practice compassion by reducing the price for their less fortunate patients whenever possible. And the medicine is potent, Granddaddy Purple, O.G. Kush, Prime time, Platinum Purple, Pink Kush, Pink Cream Jasmine Soda, Granddaddy Hash, O.G. Kush Hash, and for those patients who like edibles The Green has some tasty treats and soda pop. Classic S’mores, Brownies, and they sell pie by the slice which is an in house made product, and now Z soda a line of THC infused soda.

The Green Door has experienced following of loyal patients because of the quality of the meds coupled with affordable prices. They are providing a much need service which others are afraid to provide or abuse the privilege. Which is the wrong mind way of viewing the medical cannabis industry it should be a right not a privilege, and because of co-ops like The Green Door continuing to provide medicine to their patients that goal is one step closer to being achieved.
