Greenway takes the sixth place
prize in this year's competition.

The road to accessible quality medicine for cannabis patients from Santa Cruz and surrounding areas has been a

long and arduous journey. For almost the first ten years of prop 215 being passed there were no dispensaries in Santa Cruz County due to the strict limitations and

apprehensive landlords unwilling to lease their properties to those who wished to open dispensaries. Lisa Molyneux realized the struggle her neighboring patients had to go through to legally obtain their meds. Traveling as far as Oakland, San Francisco, and Sacramento to get the medicine they needed, it occurred to Lisa that Santa Cruz deserved their own dispensary. She worked with county officials for more than a year until she received the proper permits to open Greenway Compassionate Relief in September of 2005, and the rest is history.

Now in 2008 the future looks better than ever for Greenway. When entering the turquoise lobby your attention is immediately directed to a glass placard proudly displaying the Greenway shield. Friendly security make checking in quick and painless however, they make sure that all their new

members receive valuable information such as a pamphlet explaining their rights and regulations as a patient. From there you go into the actual dispensary, a pleasant surprise indeed in comparison to the common practice glass barrier between patients and tenders . The powder blue walls reflect the sunlight shining down from skylight above, the natural woods floors line the corridor like space. The fully stocked glass case runs the length of the room, filled with strains like, Orange Crush, Odyssey, Mr. Nice, Maui Wowi, and New School. The kief and hash selection is amazing signature pop’s puck which is a kief and hash pressed coin. Each staff

member is educated and thoughtful in helping each patient find the right medication for their specific needs.

Greenway has started several innovative projects that are currently still in progress, soon they will be expanding their patient services by opening a kitchen. Also in the future plan is a state of the art lab to check the health of the medicine. And most importantly former Navy seal and head of security Scott Wade and owner Molyneux, have taken on the project they call Delta-9. Which is a program designed to properly train security personnel to be efficient, and compassionate security specifically for medical dispensaries. This program will be held on site at dispensaries, and their entire security system will be evaluated for safety

updates. Part of the proceeds made from this program will benefit Molyneux’s Compassionate Relief, which is a non profit organization that supports patients who cannot afford their medication or are in need of other assistance.

What sets Greenway apart from other dispensaries is the vision that Lisa and her staff share, developing ideas that take this movement to another level by expanding by contributing more than just medicine. They are creating a sense of unity and hope for the future. Greenway way is top ten material because of all that they contribute and the smiles they keep on their faces.
