Canna Care takes the eighth place
prize in this year's competition.

Representing our states capital for the top ten is Canna Care. Compassionate is not the only word that comes to mind when describing owners Brian and Lanette Davies.

Involved, dedicated, activists would be a more accurate description. This dispensary is not just providing medicine they have created an outlet for their patients to get involved and protect their rights. After

Brian was diagnosed with advanced Ankylosing Spondylitis with chronic back and neck pain, his family physician suggested he try cannabis to manage the pain. Reluctant at first but awoken by a spiritual epiphany that not only did he benefit from medicinal cannabis he realized that opening a dispensary was something he was compelled to do. He has dedicated his business to the patients, by enabling them to receive the medication and support our health care system and government denies the sick and dying. It is admirable the amount of commitment Lanette and Brian share not just in the dispensary but on the front lines of this war as well.

In addition to her role at the dispensary Lanette is also the Americans for Safe Access (A.S.A) facilitator of Sacramento, an active member of Marijuana Policy Project (M.P.P), League of Women Voters (L.W.V), and Public Relations Director for the Compassionate Coalition. And Brian is a

both members of the Sacramento Chamber of Commerce. They are the all American family and they own a dispensary, which is the irony of it all the preconceived notion that all cannabis supporters are the tie dye long hair “hippy” type.

When you walk in you are greeted by canna care’s licensed security but, don’t be intimidated by the perfect posture they are some of the friendliest guys around. On the big screen T.V. there is usually something news or current event related that you can watch while you wait, at the foot of the television is a table with an array of pamphlets for you to skim through or take home. After you are verified the wait is minimal, when you walk back into the dispensary you see a

microscope hooked up to a laptop so you can take a closer look at whatever the choice strains are for that day. Words of inspiration and wisdom written on the board next to the menu. A freezer full of medicated ice cream to the left of you and a case full of nature’s cure in front of you. To the right you’ll find their clone nursery as well as books, t-shirts, and other accessories you can purchase along with your medicine. The medication is definitely medical grade quality, Train wreck, The Purps,

Their staff is tightly knit and give off this energy of understanding and care, and having a sense of humor can’t hurt either, you’ll see nothing but smiles and hear nothing but laughter on your trip to canna care. The hope and positivity that is delivered with each visit to Canna Care is one of the ways the Davies and their staff fight the good fight. If your ever in Sacramento Canna Care is the place to go, just make sure you tell them you read about them in the Oaksterdam News.
